Martin M. Barenski

1952-2014 LEE Martin Michael Barenski, 61, of Golden Hill Road, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 after a brave and courageous year long battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Pittsfield on July 2, 1952, he was the son of A. Lydia Sacchiero Barenski and the late Joseph P. Barenski. Marty was a 1970 graduate of Lee High School. Following high school, he worked for General Electric in Pittsfield and later at Fraser Sales and Western Mass Construction. Marty retired from the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, Blandford. He was very devoted to his family and many friends and was always willing to help anyone in need. In addition to his mother of Lee, Marty is survived by two brothers, Thomas J. Barenski of Lee; Robert A. Barenski and his wife, Cathleen, of Baltimore, Md. and their children, Daniel and Johannah Barenski; and one sister, Jean M. Firth and her husband, William, of Westboro, Mass. and their children, Joseph and Katelyn Firth. He also leaves his companion, Patricia MacDowell of Lee; and her children, Nicole Choquette and her husband, Noah, and their children, Jackson and Gavin; Ryan MacDowell and his wife, Edna, and their children, Amber and Victor. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Martin Barenski will be Saturday, June 7 at 12 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, Lee. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Friends wishing may make memorial donations to Riverbrook Residence or Lee Fire Co., in care of the funeral home.
