Mary Bunton

1926-2013 Mary Bunton left for her heavenly home on May 22, 2013 from Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton, FL. She was 87. She was born January 4, 1926, the eighth and last child of Cesarie and Palma Contenta in Dalton MA. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Peter and Charles Contenta and her sisters Louise Savery, Josephine Mauro and Ann Avalle and her former husband Charles A Smith. Mary is survived by her beloved husband of thirty-six years, Charles Bunton, sister Frances Fields of Bradenton, her sons Charles Smith (Carol), of Bradenton, James Smith (Joan) of N. Adams, MA, Ricci Smith (Shelly) of Shelburne, MA and daughter by marriage, Debra Anderson of Wasilla, AL. 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Dalton High School in Ma and the New York School of Floral Design. She did advanced studies of Oriental Design in Japan. Mary was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton, the Eastern Star, and the Italian American Club. She was the owner of Lake View Florist in Dalton, MA for 25 years. After moving to Florida she opened The Nautilus in Sarasota in 1972 and Miracles of the Sea in Bradenton in 1979 until her illness in 1999. Mary was a creative artist. She enjoyed oil painting. But most of all she devoted her amazing artistic ability to making people happy by creating unique personalized floral and shell arrangements for special events including weddings, parties and funerals. She could take any object and make it into a thing of beauty. We give thanks to God for Mary Bunton's life on earth and rejoice in her eternal life with God. Memorials to Tidewell Hospice are appreciated. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services for Mary Bunton will be held Saturday October 5, 2013 at 1PM at the Bartlett Wellington Funeral Home Dalton, with Rev. Noreen Surnier officiating. Prayers of Committal will be offered at her grave at Fairview Cemetery at her family lot.
