Mary Cail Obituary
Mary Mooney Cail

1924 - 2015 LENOX Mary Mooney Cail, our beloved aunt, passed away on Sunday, April 19 at Kimball Farms Nursing Center in Lenox. Born in Dorchester, Mass. on Dec. 15, 1924, she grew up in Woburn, graduating from Saint Charles High School in 1942. She and her late husband, Charles W. Cail, owned and operated Jerry's Luncheonette on Main Street for many years. Mary moved to Pittsfield, in 1966 to be closer to her sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Joe Manley. She was a second mother to their children, Chris and Paul. She worked at The Rosa Restaurant on North Street when she first arrived in Pittsfield before starting work at Berkshire Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1987. After retiring, Mary was able to spend many winters in Cape Coral, Fla. with her family. She loved to travel, and visited Egypt, Greece, Italy, Brazil, Germany, and of course, Ireland, where both of her parents were born. Mary was a gentle, loving and generous soul who made her family her priority. She was a good friend and great help to her sister and her family. She could make a friend in an instant, loved to tell a good story, especially about her family. Adversity never slowed her down. Age didn't stop her from learning to drive and, once she got her license, from driving many miles to be with friends and family. Her caregivers at Kimball Farms remember her fondly and have her family's deep gratitude for their years of dedication. She leaves her sister Kay; niece, Christine Gravelle; nephews, Jim and Ken Mooney, and Paul Manley, and their families; along with many cousins and friends. We'll miss her cooking and her company. Mary was predeceased by her son, William; her husband, Charlie; her five brothers, Francis, Tom, John, Marty, and Jim Mooney; her brother-in-law, Joseph Manley; and her sister-in-law, Tena Mooney. FUNERAL NOTICE: Family and friends will be welcomed at Cantillon Funeral Home, Woburn, Mass. at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 23. We will cross the street to celebrate her life with a Roman Catholic Mass at St. Charles Church at 11 a.m. She will be buried with her husband and son, and her brother-in-law Joe, at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements have been made by WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME IN PITTSFIELD AND CANTILLON FUNERAL HOME IN WOBURN. The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Mary support dementia research by making a donation to , 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
