1919 - 2016 Mary Ellen Ciuffreda, 96 of Agoura Hills, California, former resident of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, CA. Born in Pittsfield, September 2, 1919, the daughter of Douglas and Mary Ellen Connelly Scott, she attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School with the class of 1938. Continuing her education, she attended the former Berkshire Business School. She worked at GE in Pittsfield. While living in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She moved to Agoura Hills, California in 1975 and while there was a communicant of St. Jude's Church. While home, she loved to gather with friends and family, engage in card or board games, and just enjoy her immediate family and friends. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid and knowledgeable fan of most any sport that had to do with a Boston team and especially enjoyed watching golf tournaments every week on television. She was married to Dominick D. Ciuffreda on March 6, 1943 in Pittsfield. Her beloved husband Dominick passed away on September 27, 1970. She is also predeceased by her sisters, Dorothea Judd, Margaret White and her brother Robert Scott. She is survived by her sister Genevieve McCauley of Sandy, Utah. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Ponik and her husband Wayne of Oak Park, California, and her son Jeffrey S Ciuffreda and his wife Mary Ann of Williamsburg, Ma. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Heather McGuire and her husband Jeff, Scott Ponik and his wife Diana, Connie Seibt and her husband Jonathan, and Dominick Ciuffreda and his wife Justine. Her four great grandchildren were special joys in her life; Ella, Callan, Na Na, and Jackson. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be on Friday, August 12, 2016 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield with the Rev. Michael Bernier, officiating. There will be no public calling hours and friends and family are invited to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
