1932 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Mary E. Costa DaSilva, age 82, of 48 Garden Street, formerly of 51 Glenwood Avenue, 'returned home' to be with her beloved husband, Joseph on Monday morning, Oct. 12th at the Timberlyn Rehabilitation and Care Center. She was born in Ludlow, MA, Dec. 7, 1932, the daughter of Manuel and Josephine Sabiela Costa. She came to Pittsfield and attended the schools here. Mrs. DaSilva was employed at the Pittsfield High School Cafeteria for several years and had previously worked at Appliance World as a sales person. Most recently, she was employed in the offices at Berkshire-Care in the billing dept.. A communicant of the former St. Mary's Church, she enjoyed professionally baking and decorating cakes, crocheting and knitting items for family and friends. She loved to travel including trips to the Casino's. Most especially, Mary enjoyed baking cookies and always shared them with family and friends. Her husband, Joseph A. DaSilva, Sr., whom she married Nov. 27, 1953, died June 30, 1999. She is survived by her son, Joseph A. DaSilva, Jr. and his companion, Dawn McAllister of Adams, her four daughters, Josie DaSilva of Ludlow, Diane R. Gadson and her husband, Ellis of Pittsfield, Vicky M. DaSilva of Pittsfield and Mary E. Daddario, with whom she made her home, of Pittsfield, her brother, James Costa and his wife, Sandy of Dalton, her sister-in-law Adeline Chrzanowski of Pittsfield, her son-in-law, Ken Hartwell, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves two dear friends, Josie Kelly and Rosie Dawley. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Horace Costa and Raymond Costa and her two sisters, Victoria Luz and Rose Luz. The family would like to thank the staff of Timberlyn Rehabilitation and Care Center as well as the caregivers from Hospice-Care in the Berkshires. FUNERAL NOTICE: DaSilva, Mary E. Costa age 82, of Pittsfield, died Oct. 12th. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11a.m. at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire County Jimmy Fund in care of the funeral home.
