Mary M. Dojka

1924 - 2013 LANESBOROUGH Mary M. O'Brien Dojka, of Lanesborough, 88, surrounded by her loving family, passed away on March 4, 2013.

She was born in Pittsfield on March 29, 1924, to Luke O'Brien and Margaret Hifko O'Brien. Upon graduating from St. Joseph High School in 1942, Mary began working at the Woolworth Department Store. In 1985 she retired, having worked for 43 years in the Ordnance Department at the General Electric Company.

Following her retirement from GE, Mary became an avid golfer and bowler with memberships to GEAA and the Skyline Country Clubs. She enjoyed her bowling league and time spent at the Pittsfield Senior Center, where she played cards and was involved with many activities.

Mary was a devout Catholic, a member of the Catholic Daughters of Isabelle and was a communicant of St. Charles Church and member of their Rosary Society.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter S. Dojka.

She is survived by her sister, Priscilla Pepin, and husband, Leo of Orange, Conn., and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Rita Carmody, and husband, Jack, of Sun City, Ariz., and by three brothers, Luke O'Brien and wife, Nina, of Albany, N.Y., William O' Brien and wife Mary of Pittsfield, and North Fort Myers, Fla., and Francis O'Brien and wife, Daisy, of Pittsfield and Spring Hill, Fla.

The family would like to thank the staff at Laurel Lake for their compassionate care and her nephews, Paul O'Brien and Paul Cote, for their generous help and love they gave her during her time at Laurel Lake.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mary M. O'Brien Dojka will be Monday, March 11, 2013, at 9 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 2 to 5 p.m.
