1923 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Mary G. Gargan of Pittsfield, formerly of Waterford, Conn., died Feb. 6, 2014, in Pittsfield. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., on July 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Philomena Scalzi Gerbino. She was the widow of Raymond Gargan who predeceased her in 1990. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She cherished the moments she had with family and looked forward to any time she could spend with her loved ones on holidays and throughout the year. She will be sorely missed for her love, fabulous cooking and great storytelling. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Lorenzo Gerbino. She is survived by her son, Raymond Gargan Jr. and his wife Jeanne Boudreau, of Adams; two daughters, Michele Gargan and her husband Mark Gillies, of Ridgefield, Conn., and Ann McIntyre and her husband, Bruce of Jamestown, R.I.; her beloved grandson, Andrew Gillies, of Ridgefield, Conn.; three sisters, Lucia Worley of Flanders, N.J., Sarah Lavalle of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Nina Depenbrock of Waxhaw, N.C. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mary G. Gargan will be Friday, Feb.14, 2014, at 11 a.m at St. Mark Church, celebrated by the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor. A private burial will be held in Waterford, Conn. at West Neck Cemetery next to her husband, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary's name to Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter or US Pain Foundation, care of the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201.
