Mary Louise Gebauer 1923 - 2012 DALTON Mary Louise (McElroy) Gebauer, 89, of 45 Main St. ,Dalton and a former longtime resident of 44 Ashland St. North Adams, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Providence Care of Lenox. She was born in North Adams, MA on Feb. 13, 1923, daughter of Clarence and Blanche (Smith) McElroy. She attended North Adams schools and graduated from the St. Joseph's High School. Mary was last employed as a sales clerk at the North Adams General Store. In her younger years, she worked as a switchboard operator for New England Telephone Co. She also worked as a professional seamstress for a time. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams. Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing, and music, especially songs of the 1940's. She was the widow of Raymond Gebauer, who died on Dec. 18, 1980. They were married on Oct. 17, 1947. Survivors include two daughters, Wendy Grande and her husband Joseph and Beverly Ames Thompson, and her husband, Gert, all of Dalton; one son, Mark Gebauer and his wife, Catherine, of Camp Hill, PA; five grandchildren; Elizabeth Grande, Peter Grande, Louise Gebauer, Samantha Gebauer, and Alexander Gebauer. She also leaves one sister, Doris Cook of North Adams; a sister-in-law, Priscilla Zuber and her husband, John, of Pittsfield; and nieces and nephews. A brother, Gordon McElroy, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Mary Gebauer will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at 10 AM at All Saints Episcopal Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA are Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Church in care of the funeral home.
