Mary Jean Curtin

1929 - 2012 ADAMS Miss Mary Jean Curtin, 83, of 49 Orchard St., Adams, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 8, 2012, at North Adams Regional Hospital.

She was born at W.B. Plunkett Memorial Hospital in Adams on May 16, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph T. and Helen (Flaherty) Curtin, who were residents of the Farnams section of Cheshire. At that time, Farnams was owned by the Curtin Family. She graduated from the former Adams High School with the Class of 1947, and then attended the former Bliss Business College in North Adams.

Miss Curtin was employed by the Northern Berkshire Registry of Deeds in Adams for 39 years, and was assistant registrar for her last 13 years working there. She retired in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, and was a communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams. She enjoyed reading, gardening and knitting, and had given many hand-made afghans to family members.

She is survived by her sister, Elinor Anne Curtin, with whom she resided; 11 first cousins, and many second cousins.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14th, at 10:45 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by the Rev. David R. Raymond, pastor. Burial will follow in the family lot in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
