Mary A. Zerbato

1922 - 2016 Mary A. Zerbato, 94, of 190 Greylock Street in Lee, died Tuesday at the Laurel Lake Center in Lee. She was born in Florence, Italy on January 29, 1922, the daughter of Basilio and Armida Rinaldi Bachettni. She moved to the United States as a child and was educated in the Lee Schools. On November 29, 1947 she married Guido Zerbato. Guido passed away on October 7, 2008. Mrs. Zerbato started her cooking career at the Here UR restaurant, in East Lee, which was owned by her parents. She spent 25 years in school cafeteria services and retired in 1988 form the Berkshire Hills Regional School District. She was renowned for her spaghetti sauce and fudge making skills, was an avid Mets fan and loved Bingo and scratch tickets. Mary was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Lee and a member of the former St. Mary / St. Martha Sodality. Mrs. Zerbato leaves her son, James R. Zerbato of Lee; her daughter, Jean M. Monachina of Lee and her two grand dogs, Sophie and Rosie. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters; Lillian Viale and Nellie Biasin. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mary Zerbato will be held on Monday, May 9th, at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday morning from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee.
