1939-2013 NORTH ADAMS Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Lamb) Ameen, age 73, of 88 Chenaille Terrace, died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at her home. She was born in Sharon, Conn. on December 26, 1939, daughter of George and Kathleen (Whalen) Lamb. She attended Sharon schools and graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1957. Marybeth continued her education by attending the Henry W. Bishop III Memorial School of Nursing in Pittsfield, MA. She graduated in 1960 as a Registered Nurse. At different times in her 40-plus years, she served the community she loved so much by being dedicated to helping everyone she met. She did this in many different ways. In nursing, she was on General Floors, Maternity, the Emergency Room, working daytime, 3-11 and 11-7. She also continued her education so that she could again serve her community as head trauma nurse at North Adams Regional Hospital. Marybeth loved being a nurse and loved her community, even after retiring in 2005, she continued to care for others because of her kindness and love for humanity. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Adams where she served as a deacon. Marybeth was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed reading and travel and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was the widow of Richard F. Ameen who died on October 23, 2009. They were married on February 18, 1961. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret E. Ameen, and her partner Marielle of Las Vegas, Nev. and Susan Ameen-Fisher and her husband, Matthew of North Adams; two sons, Kassim "Mike" Ameen and his wife, Beverly of North Adams and Richard K. Ameen of Jupiter, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kaytee Ameen, Carly Ameen, and Hadley Ameen. She also leaves one sister, Karen Blass and her husband, Steve of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and two brothers, Arthur Lamb and his wife, Sue of Portland, Maine and John Lamb and his wife, Claudia of Sharon, Conn; her brother Peter's wife, Mary Lamb of Sharon, Conn.; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; and her trusted companion, Bailey. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Peter Lamb. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Mary Ameen will be Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
