Mercedes Merullo 1912-2012 PITTSFIELD Mercedes Merullo, 99, of 141 Ridge Avenue, Pittsfield died peacefully Monday June 11, 201 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on October 13, 1912 in Northfield, Vt., a daughter of the late Anthony and Julia DiBona Tocci. She attended schools in Quincy, Mass. She was employed as a stitcher for Tremont Clothing in Boston for 25 years; she later worked as a security guard at Logan International Airport in Boston until the age of 82 when she retired. In her younger years she marched in the Drum and Bugle Corps in Quincy, Mass. She enjoyed sewing and traveling and being with her family. She was a communicant of St. Charles Church. She was the wife of Attilio J. Merullo whom she married Aug. 25, 1934 at St. Leonard's Church in the North End of Boston, he died in 1997. She is survived by her daughter with whom she resided Angela J. Hayes of Pittsfield and a son Arthur J. Merullo and his wife Diane of Jensen Beach, Fla. Six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters, Amelia, Josephine and Dora and by four brothers, Edmond, Neal, Anthony and Arthur. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mercedes Tocci Merullo will be private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Ma. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in her memory to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or Elder Services of Berkshire County both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. 01201 which is handling arrangements.
