Michael C. Madden

1953 - 2016 Michael C. Madden, age 62, of Pittsfield, died Friday morning at his home following his long struggle with cancer with his wife, Laura, by his side Born in Pittsfield, Aug. 1, 1953, he was the son of Kathleen Keegan Harrington and her husband, John Harrington and the late Richard W. Madden. A 1972 graduate of the Taconic High School vocational education auto body program, he initially became employed in the auto body shop at Pete's Motors. He later became employed as a painter at the General Electric Co. both here and upon his transfer, at the plant in Schenectady. Mike retired from GE in 1995 with 22 years of service. Most recently and until his death, he was employed at Sinicon Plastic in Dalton for the past 10 years. Mike enjoyed motorcycling and specifically touring on his Harley. He also enjoyed all types of classic cars with his favorite being a " Road Runner ". He was a big fan of both of the televised Mecum and Barrett Jackson auto auctions . Best of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family He is survived by his wife of 21 years, the former Laura J. Horn, whom he married Feb. 25, 1995 In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Becky, Theresa and Dan Horn all of Pittsfield, his 4 grandchildren Erica, Devin, Anissa and Kieran. He is also survived by 1 step brother and 3 step sisters, and another daughter, Crystal L. Madden. FUNERAL NOTICE: Madden, Michael C., age 62, died Friday morning at home. Funeral services will be held TUESDAY morning at 11:00 am at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10 am Private family burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
