Michael John Monterosso

1937 - 2013 PITTSFIELD On May 15, 2013, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Michael John Monterosso, 75, of 83 Williamsburg Terrace, entered into eternal rest and was led to Heaven in God's Hands. He leaves a legacy that will be emblazoned into the Monterosso Family and all who knew him.

Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 13, 1937, the son of Vito and Grace Pariselli Monterosso, he was a 1955 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Monterosso first worked for General Electric Company. For the next 41 years, he worked as a corporate manager for Coca-Cola. For 10 years, he worked for his son's business, NetConnex.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and had been a communicant of St. Teresa Church.

Mr. Monterosso enjoyed being with his family and making the family recipe for pasta sauce and meat balls. He also enjoyed playing golf and off-track betting.

Mr. Monterosso leaves his wife, the former Martha Zimmerman, whom he married Aug. 30, 1969.

He is also survived by two daughters, Darlene Zradi, and her companion, Patrick Muraca of Pittsfield, and Shelley Monterosso of Huntington, and her spouse, Mark Gardner; two sons, David Monterosso and his fiancee, Holly Moran, of Pittsfield, and Paul Monterosso and his wife, Pamela, of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, Kristle, Jordan, Marquie, Samantha, Lukas, Mitchell, and Caden, and a great granddaughter, Peyton; many nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Helen Monterosso, Sally Leary, and Beverly and Jack Sinico.

Mr. Monterosso was pre-deceased by his brothers, Joe, Ben, Frankie, Tony, and Charlie, and by his sisters, Mary, Grace, Ginny, and Lucy.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. DeLeo and Dr. Gebera, for the care and compassionate treatment given to Mr. Monterosso, and to Dr. Kantor, as well, for the kindness shown to Mr. Monterosso's family.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Michael John Monterosso will be Monday, May 20, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made The Jimmy Fund in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
