Michael J. Purry

1952 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Michael John Purry, 61, of Wahconah Heights, Pittsfield, died Wednesday, April 2, 2013, at his home. Born in Pittsfield on May 23, 1952, a son of the late Tommie and Annie Bell Williams Purry, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1970 graduate of Taconic High School. Mr. Purry had been employed as a prep cook at Jimmy's Restaurant for twenty years. Prior to that, he was employed by General Electric Company where he worked in the shipping and receiving department of the Power Transformer Division for twenty five years. He was a member of Second Congregational Church. Mr. Purry loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed football, fishing, and bowling, as well as scratch tickets and going to Foxwoods. He is survived by a son, Blake E. Purry of Pittsfield; four daughters, Yvette R. Hoy and her husband, Francis Arigoni, of West Stockbridge, Imogene A. Purry of Pittsfield, Michelle A. Purry of Pittsfield, and Bailey Ortiz and her husband, Jesse, of Chatham, N.Y.; two brothers, Tommie R. Purry and Robert L. Purry, both of Pittsfield; three sisters, Linda G. Purry-Scales, Imogene L. Purry, and Carol A. Purry, all of Pittsfield; eleven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, a host of nieces and nephews, and his former wife, Judy Haake, of Colorado. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Michael John Purry will be held Tuesday, April 8, at 11 a.m., at Second Congregational Church, 50 Onota Street, Pittsfield, with Rev. Leonard C. Comithier officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Congregational Church in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsifeld.
