Michael D. Tassone

1941 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Michael D. Tassone 73, of 51 Parker St. died Monday Sept. 8, 2014 at the Vibra Hospital in Springfield, Mass. He was born in Westfield, Mass. on Aug. 5 1941 a son of the late Domenick and Carmela (Cerminara) Tassone. He attended St. Joseph Grammar School and graduated from Drury High School Trade School in 1961. He was employed for many years at the Parker Machine Co. and was last employed part-time at Period Lighting Co. in Clarksburg. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams and a member of the North Adams Elks Lodge. Mr. Tassone was a former Little League baseball coach and a Boy Scout Leader. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janice (Nicol) Tassone whom he married June 2, 1962 in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Two sons, Kevin Tassone and his wife, Rachel of North Adams and Mark Tassone and his wife, Katherine of North Adams. Four grandchildren, Alison , Domenick , Joshua and Troy Tassone. Five step grandchildren, Brian, Lauren, Cameron, T.J. and Trejan Skiffington. One step great-grandson, Oliver Flagg. Three sisters, Anne Haun of Lake Wales, Fla., Mary Luschen of Clinton, Mass. and Jean Lamarche of Leominster, Mass. Two brothers, William Sweatland of Clinton, Mass. and Robert Sweatland of Leominster, Mass. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his birth mother, Madeline Sweatland and two brothers, John and Thomas Sweatland. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will take place at a later date in Southview Cemetery.
