Mildred Jeannette Oakes Caprari

1918-2013 CLARKSBURG Mrs. Mildred Jeannette Oakes Caprari, 94 of Clarksburg, died Monday January 14, 2013 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility after a brief illness.

She was born on the family farm in South Readsboro, Vt., on August 22, 1918, daughter of Clifford and Adelaide (Tower) Oakes. She attended school in South Readsboro.

Mildred was primarily a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Adams. She was also a member of the South Readsboro Community Club and the Clarksburg Senior Citizens. Mildred enjoyed knitting and quilting, donating many items to charities for which she received numerous certificates of appreciation. She also enjoyed cooking.

She was the widow of Olympio A. Caprari who died July 31, 1990. They were married on January 9, 1941.

Survivors include two sons- Robert Caprari, and his wife, Ann of Hereford, Ariz.; and Lawrence Caprari, and his wife, Jean of Pittsfield. Five grandchildren- Michael Caprari and his wife, Delena of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Michelle Caprari of Boulder, Colo.; Brad Caprari, and his wife, Gabrielle of Verona, N.J.; Brian Caprari, and his wife, Kate of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; and Evan Caprari of Portland, Maine. Two great grandchildren- Augustin Caprari and Julia Caprari.

She also leaves one sister- Marion Snow and one brother- Douglas Oakes, both of Monroe, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. A son died in infancy and three brothers are deceased including Clifford Jr., Richard, and Howard Oakes.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Mildred Caprari will be Friday January 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksburg Senior Center or Elder Services in care of the funeral home.
