Mildred Carmel Wuinee

1921 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Mildred Carmel Wuinee, 93, of 140 Melbourne Road, Melbourne Place died Friday morning Jan. 23, at her home with her loving husband at her side. Born on Feb. 28, 1921 in Pittsfield, a daughter of the late Frank and Ora Dion Carmel. She attended schools in Pittsfield and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She also was a graduate of American International College in Springfield, Mass. For 20 years she had been the Governor's Assistant in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and had also worked for the Federal Government in Trinidad. Mildred had also been a reporter at onetime for the Berkshire Eagle. She had been a communicant of Notre Dame Church and Saint Joseph's Church. She enjoyed organizing trips, music and dancing and writing articles for the Berkshire Eagle. She is survived by her beloved husband Edward C. Wuinee whom she married in North Ft. Myers, Fla. in Feb. of 1992. Her first husband, Oscar Rogers, predeceased her. Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Nancy Raimer of Stephentown, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Georgianna Raimer, Wayne Rogers, Scott Rogers and Melissa Crossland; four great-grandchildren, Brittany, Nathaniel, Trinity and Keira; a sister, Jean Tierney of Pittsfield; a brother, Clarence Carmel and his wife, Jane, of Pittsfield; daughter-in- law, Fidora Jones of Fairfield, Ohio. She was predeceased by a son, Bailey Rogers; three brothers, Robert, Norman and Edward Carmel; two sisters, Ruth Carmel and Frances "Barney" Harte; and brother-in-law, Robert Tierney. She is also survived by her devoted caregivers, Dawn McLaughlin, Josie Kelly, Pam Lockenwitz, Donna Garrity, Kellie Robinson, Dawn Bartlett and Kathy Stracuzzi. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at EPOCH of Melbourne for all their care and compassion shown to Mildred over the years. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to Saint Joseph's Church in care of the funeral home.
