Millicent J. Gravel

1924-2013 ASHLEY FALLS Millicent Jean Gravel, 89, of Clayton Road in Ashley Falls died at home on November 28, 2013. Born Millicent Jean Sanford in Marlborough on July 5, 1924 she was the daughter of Charles W. and Leila Marshall Sanford. She grew up in Clinton and graduated from Clark University in Worcester. On November 28, 1949 she was married to Charles Leo Gravel in Cambridge. After raising her family she had a professional career as a copy editor at Medical Economics in Oradell, N.J. With a lifelong love of puppetry she created a troupe of rod puppets, writing, producing and performing puppet shows throughout her life. Millicent was a musician and lover of music, playing piano and accordion. She was a gardener, reader, writer and lifelong student of philosophy and metaphysics. She leaves two daughters, both in Ashley Falls, Marsha Altemus and husband Nelson Denbigh and Nadine Hottat and husband Alain Hottat and one son, Charles L. Gravel and his wife Dorothy Gravel of Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In accordance with her wishes services will be private.
