Morris Landa

1923-2012 PITTSFIELD Morris Landa, 89, of 75 Mountain Drive, passed suddenly at Berkshire Medical Center, Monday, November, 26, 2012.

He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on June 19, 1923, son of the late Pauline (Rubenstein) Landa. He was a graduate of James Monroe High School and the City College of New York and served as a Seabee in the US Navy stationed in the Philippines and New Guinea during World War II.

He came to Pittsfield in 1954, and worked as an accountant at England Brothers prior to establishing his own public accounting and tax specialist practice on North Street for the next 52 years.

A former treasurer and board member of Knesset Israel Synagogue, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Abigail Toby Landa, sons, Philip Landa and his wife Lisa of Belmont, Mass., and Sheldon Landa of New York, N.Y., and the proud grandfather of Sophie Landa of Belmont, MA.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Private graveside services will take place today, November 28, 2012 at Knesset Israel Cemetery with Rabbi David Weiner, Spiritual Leader of Congregation Knesset Israel Synagogue officiating. The family will receive friends during Shiva at the family home, 75 Mountain Drive in Pittsfield from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, Sunday, December 2, and Monday, December 3.
