Neil W. Kirchner

1930 2013 PITTSFIELD Neil W. Kirchner, 82, died Saturday after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family at Berkshire Medical Center.

Neil was born to the late Clarence and E. Marie (Patnode) Kirchner in Pittsfield on November 20, 1930. He attended Lenox schools, and later enlisted in the Army and served his country with distinction during the Korean War obtaining the rank of Corporal. He worked for many years as a Service Manager for Lipton Energy.

Neil was an avid Gardener and loved growing tomatoes and garlic. Neil was always generous with his time and talent. He will be missed by many as the go-to-guy who could and would fix anything for anybody, and as the friend who was always happy to lend a hand.

Neil is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Liccardi) Kirchner. His sons Michael Kirchner and his wife Judith of Pittsfield, Thomas Kirchner and his wife Lisa of Londonderry, N.H. and his daughter Laura Hager and her husband John of Dalton. He is also survived by his brothers Bernard Kirchner and his wife Louise of Lenox; Jack Kirchner and his wife carol of Elgin, IL and Bob Kirchner of California.

He was predeceased by a brother Kenny and a sister in law Dori as well as a sister Marie Howie. Neil will be especially missed by his seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday January 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Anne's Church 134 Main St., Lenox, and burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Pittsfield. There will be no calling hours. Devanny Condron Funeral Home 40 Maplewood Ave is in charge of the arrangements.
