1922 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Nellie T. Caccamo, 92, of 82 Elaine Dr., passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 9, 2014. Born in Pittsfield on March 7, 1922, the daughter of George and Polly Weczerkovska Spasyk, she was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School and graduated from Berkshire Secretarial School. Nellie worked for General Electric in Pittsfield as an Executive Secretary for 49 years. She was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Nellie enjoyed playing tennis and golf and had been a member of the GEAA and Berkshire Hills Country Club. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching professional golf. She was a master at Sudoku puzzles as well as regular puzzles. Mrs. Caccamo was recently predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Dominick Caccamo, whom she married in 1977 in Pittsfield. He died May 11, 2014. She is survived by her stepson, Bruce Caccamo and his wife, Susan, of East Granby, Conn.; a brother, and last survivor of nine children, George Spasyk of Indianapolis, Ind.; three nieces, Paula Rivers and her husband, Richard, of Pittsfield, Stephanie Winslow and her husband, James, of Lenox, and Marko Russell of Montpelier, Vt.; a nephew, Michael Avery Spasyk and his wife, Joan, of Williston, Vt. She was predeceased by a nephew, Michael John Spasyk, and by her seven beloved brothers and sisters, William, Steven, Peter, Michael, John, Ann Spasyk, and Mari Theilig. Nellie's family would like to thanks the regular caregivers from Home Instead for the wonderful care they gave Nellie over the past few years. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie T. Caccamo will be Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday morning, before the service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home in her memory.
