Norma M. Jamros 1920 - 2012 CHESHIRE Norma M. Jamros, 92, a former longtime Cheshire resident, died Sunday at Hillcrest Commons of Pittsfield. Born on April 9, 1920, in Monson, Maine, she was a daughter of Philias and Rose Cormier Casey. She was educated in Maine schools and was a graduate of Monson Academy in Maine where she lived as a child. Mrs. Jamros was employed as an assembler at the former Sprague Electric in North Adams for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. She also belonged to the Cheshire and Savoy Senior Citizens Honor Guard and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and hosting hikers as they traveled along the Appalachian Trail. Her husband, Walter T. Jamros whom she married Jan. 4, 1947, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, died Feb. 7, 2009. She leaves a daughter, Janice L. Jamros of Pittsfield; a son, James J. Jamros of Cheshire; two brothers, Norris Casey of California and E. Otis Casey of New York; three sisters, Hazel St. Hillaire of New Jersey, Emily Barnett of Indiana, and Leah Tracy of Cheshire; her granddaughter, Katrina R. Jamros of Pittsfield, and a great-grandson, William A. Jamros of Pittsfield. Norma also leaves many nieces and nephews including her special niece, Neila Aldrich of New York. She was predeceased by a brother, Regis Casey, and by two sisters, Elodie Darmstadt and Dora Sheldon. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Norma M. Jamros, who died July 1, 2012, will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church at a time and date to be announced. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Donations in memory of Mrs. Jamros may be made to the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department in care of the DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, North State Road, Cheshire, MA which is in charge of arrangements.
