Norman Parrish Kellogg

1924 - 2015 GREAT BARRINGTON Norman Parrish Kellogg, 90, passed away on Saturday at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington, following an extended illness. He was born in 1924 in Great Barrington to Robert and Marguerite Kellogg, one of six children, was raised in Great Barrington, graduating from Searles High School in 1942 and served his country during World War II. Norman entered the Army Air Force in 1942, was trained in aviation mechanics and served as a Crew Chief. He participated in the Normandy Invasion in 1944 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1945. Norman worked the majority of his life for over 40 years as an electrician for Pfizer in Canaan, CT and Schweitzer-Mauduit in Lee, retiring in 1988. Following his retirement, he frequently worked for LB Corporation in Lee, at hours he chose and cherished at the same time. Norman was predeceased by his wife of 61 years and mother of his children, Rena Elizabeth Deferari, in 2007. He leaves his surviving siblings, Grace Rockefeller of Great Barrington, and Franklin Kellogg, and wife, Sharon Kellogg of Hartsville, two sons, Gerald Kellogg and wife, Dona Kellogg of Sheffield and Barefoot Bay, FL, Joseph Kellogg and partner, Kristin Schroder of Sandisfield, three daughters, Diane Rose of Vero Beach, FL, Constance Broggi and husband, Gary Broggi, of Mill River, Carol Hastedt and partner, Warren Robertson, of Lee, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Berkshire Humane Society in memory of Norman's beloved cat, Kramer.
