Olive Ruth Wechter

1921-2012 PITTSFIELD Olive Ruth Wechter, formerly of Brooks Avenue, Pittsfield, died Friday, October 26, 2012, on her 91st birthday, at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center.

Born in Pittsfield on October 26, 1921, a daughter of James R. and Irma E. Jolls Hendra, she was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College.

Mrs. Wechter was employed by General Electric Company as a secretary in the Ordnance Systems Division, retiring in 1983, with twenty-four years service.

She had been a member of the G.E. Pensioners Club.

She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos.

Her family and her grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Her husband, John L. Wechter, whom she married in 1943 in St. Joseph Church, died October 10, 2002.

Mrs. Wechter is survived by three sons, Roger F. Wechter of Pittsfield, Michael T. Wechter and his wife, Nancy, of Richmond, and David P. Wechter and his wife, Dolores, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; a daughter, Donna L. Starsja and her husband, John, of Adams; a sister, Clara Lou Shallies of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Lorrie Wechter, Tracey Wechter, Justin Wechter, Jeremy Harper, Emmie Lanski, Stacie D'Aniello, and Michael Wechter, and four great grandchildren, Jacob Harper, Genesis Harper, Kevin Chittenden, and Jack Lanski.

She was pre-deceased by a grandson, Kevin M. Wechter, two sisters, Muriel Dapper and Carol Tower, and a daughter-in-law, Carol Hermanski Wechter.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Olive Ruth Wechter will be held Monday, October 29, at 1:30 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 12:30 p.m. Entombment will follow the service in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions
