Paul Howcroft Sr.

1923 - 2013 NORTH ADAMS Paul Harry Howcroft Sr., 89, of 148 Brooklyn St., died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Williamstown Commons.

He was born in North Adams on Au. 22, 1923, son of Harry and Anna (LaRoche) Howcroft. He attended the Notre Dame Parochial School.

Mr. Howcroft was an Army veteran of World War II and served in Europe. Prior to his military service, he worked at a CCC camp in Rivington, Conn.

He was last employed at General Electric Co. in its Ordnance Dept. for over 30 years until his retirement. Paul also operated his own TV repair business for many years.

He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Paul was a member of the North Adams American Legion. He enjoyed building radio equipment and was a member of the Northern Berkshire Amateur Radio Club. Paul also enjoyed attending ham radio fests, auctions and flea markets.

His wife, the former Ruth A. Lackey, died in 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Rounds and Linda Sumner of North Adams; four sons, Paul H. Howcroft Jr. of Adams, Robert Howcroft and Donald Howcroft of North Adams, and Timothy Howcroft of Lowell, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Paul Howcroft Sr. will be Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
