1936 - 2014 BENNINGTON Pauline M. Herlihy, 78, a resident of Central Avenue, Schenectady, N.Y., died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady surrounded by her family. Born in Bennington on Sept. 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Rose (Foucher) Tripp. Pauline received her education in Bennington and was a 1954 graduate of Bennington High School where she was a member of the majorette group. In earlier years, Pauline was employed for 18 years at Jack's Department store in Lee, Mass. She later moved to Scotia, N.Y. where she worked at Stewarts in Scotia for seven years. Prior to her retirement, Pauline last worked at Mayjax Cleaning Services in Schenectady. She was a member of the Colonie Senior Center and an avid fan of the Boston Bruins. Her favorite past times were doing crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Denise Pillsbury of Scotia, Douglas R. Russell of Pittsfield, Mass., Brenda Pike (Edward) of Arlington, Edward F. Herlihy of Pittsfield and Erin Albright (Timothy) of Scotia; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Jankowy of Scotia and Cheryl Tripp-Cleveland of Pittsfield; two brothers, Howard Tripp Jr and David Tripp, both of Bennington and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pauline was predeceased by two husbands, Douglas R. Russell, Sr. and Edward Herlihy, Jr. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions in Pauline M. Herlihy's memory may be made to the through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
