Peter Alden Frissell
1941 - 2013 HINSDALE Peter Alden Frissell, 71, of Bonnie Drive, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Peter was born June 20, 1941 in Pittsfield, the son of Clinton and Ruth Fentner Frissell. He attended Pittsfield High School, graduated from Worcester Academy in Worcester, and graduated with a degree in forestry from Paul Smith's College.
He was employed by the New England Telephone Company as an outside plant engineer, retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed going boating on Plunkett Lake, spending time with his granddaughter, visiting with his friends, and joining them for Friday morning "coffee club." Peter enjoyed traveling and yearly family vacations to Maine.
Peter served as a Selectman in the Town of Hinsdale for six years and on the Finance Committee for six years.
Peter was a member of the First Congregational Church since childhood, and was a longtime 4-H Club member.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dawn Sanderson, whom he married Oct. 25, 1975; daughters, Erin K. Frissell and Kate L. Frissell, both of Hinsdale; his granddaughter, Lilah Alden Frissell-Filiault, who was the apple of his eye and shared his middle name; sisters, Linda C. Kahn, and her husband, Jeffery of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., Sally J. Frissell of New York, N.Y., and Donna S. Frissell of Boston; sisters-in-law, Gay Calo and her husband, Joseph, Hope Burgess and her husband, John Barrett, and Faith Scofield; brothers-in-law, James Sanderson and Norman T. Sanderson; father-in-law, Norman A. Sanderson, 14 nieces and nephews, 10 great-nieces and nephews, and five grand-dogs.
He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Frissell.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Peter A. Frissell will be held Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Hinsdale with the Rev. Dr. Alex Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Street Cemetery.
Calling hours will be today, Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME.
