1941 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Peter Patrick Mulcahy, 72, of 505 East Main St., died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at his home. He was born in North Adams on March 29, 1941, son of Charles M. and Florence (Perreault) Mulcahy. He attended local schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School with the class of 1959. He graduated from North Adams State College in 1969, where he later earned two Master's Degrees. Peter was a Navy veteran, serving as a hospital corpsman from 1959 to 1963. He participated in the Bay of Pigs Invasion and blockade of Guantanamo Bay on the USS Boston. Peter taught biology and earth science at Hoosac Valley Regional High School for 34 years until his retirement in 2000. At Hoosac Valley, he was the advisor to the Ski Club and the Exchange Club for 14 years. Peter enjoyed skiing, fishing, skeet shooting and target shooting. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Stamford Sportsman's Club, the Cheshire Rod and Gun Club, and the American Loon Lovers Association Conservation Group. Peter was also a member of American Legion Post #160 and the Vietnam Veterans of America. Peter was long active in local politics and was the Northern Berkshire Campaign Coordinator for Anthony J. Ruberto Jr.'s two successful elections as Berkshire County District Attorney. He was also the Campaign Chairman for John Barrett III's many terms as Mayor of North Adams. Survivors include his wife, Stephanie (Cwalinski) Mulcahy, whom he married on Dec. 26, 2010; one daughter, Kelly Mulcahy Kemp, and her husband Jeffrey J. Kemp, of North Adams; two sons, Ryan Peter Mulcahy of North Adams and John Buletti Mulcahy of Attleboro; his nephew and best friend, Charles Mulcahy and his wife, Donna, of Clarksburg; two grandchildren, Megan Kelly Mulcahy of Attleboro and Luke James Sisto and Luke's father, James J. Sisto, of North Adams; one brother, George Mulcahy of Adams; four sisters, Anita Molleur and Joyce Melillo of Adams; Virginia Cordingley of South Weymouth, and Jane Lancto of Bowling Green, Va. and nieces and nephews. Three brothers are deceased, John Mulcahy, Charles Mulcahy, and Richard Mulcahy. His first wife, Judith Buletti Mulcahy, whom he married July 7, 1962, died Aug. 26, 1996.
