Philip R. Babeu
1927 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Philip Robert Babeu, 87, of 175 Franklin St., died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at North Adams Commons. He was born in North Adams on Jan. 22, 1927, son of Adolph and Flora (VanSleet) Babeu and attended local schools. Mr. Babeu was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 767th Tank Battalion in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Mr. Babeu worked for many years at General Electric Co., Pittsfield, until retiring. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the New York Yankees. His wife, the former, Jean Koza, died on June 18, 1991. He is survived by one son, Mark Babeu and his wife, Kathleen, of Adams; two daughters, Linda McKay and Theresa Cyrulik and her husband, Frank, all of Adams; six grandchildren, Joshua Cyrulik of Adams, Melissa Allen and her husband, Ged, of Lanesborough, Shaun McKay of Stamford, Vt., Katie Mendonca and her husband, Jason, of Cheshire, Nicole Babeu of Chicopee and Matthew Babeu of Adams, and seven great-grandchildren, Faye, Zachary and Aydden Cyrulik, Logan Allen, Caleb McKay and Aiden and Addison Mendonca. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. John Gawienowski. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka School, 108 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220.
