Phyllis J. Ceterski Doerle

1935 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Phyllis J. Ceterski Doerle, age 79, of 72 Gamwell Ave. died Sunday morning at the Berkshire Medical Center after a courageous 25 year fight with cancer. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., June 21, 1935, the daughter of the late Matthew and Blanche McClus-key Ceterski. She was educated in the local schools and was a 1953 graduate of Central High School there. She moved to Pittsfield in 1967 and was employed as an administrative assistant at the General Electric Co. Ordnance Systems for 13 years, retiring in 1993. A faithful member of the former St. Teresa's Church for 42 years, she became a member of St. Ann's Church in Lenox upon the Church closing. Mrs. Doerle was a cake baker and made many wedding cakes for family and friends. An avid Red Sox fan, she enjoyed knitting, traveling, collecting Teddy Bears. A member of the Red Hats Society, she was a member of Civitan and volunteered at the Colonial Theatre. An accomplished Pitch player, she was known to enjoy shopping excursions. Most of all, she enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's performances and athletic events. She and her husband of 60 years, Walter A. Doerle, were married Oct. 16, 1954. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Scott W. Doerle and his wife, Anna Flynn Doerle, of Williamstown, Keith M. Doerle and his wife, Stephanie Ostrikis Doerle, of Pittsfield, Craig S. Doerle and his fiance, Sallie Phillips, of Pittsfield, Brad M. Doerle and his wife, Jennifer Armold Doerle, of Pittsfield, her daughters, Diane P. Matras and her husband, Stanley Matras, of Chicopee, Mass., Karen M. MacDowell and her husband, Robert MacDowell, of Peru, Mass., Heidi A. Hamilton of Pittsfield. She was the proud Grandma of her 13 grandchildren, Kathryn Reiner, Tiffany Matras, Arielle Doerle, and Catherine Flynn, Shane MacDowell, Mariah MacDowell, Ryan Doerle, Matt Gendron, Charlie Gendron, Megan Doerle, Alyssa Doerle, Leanne Hamilton, and Emily Hamilton; three great-grandchildren, Julia and Rhys Reiner, and Nya Guillou. Her family is most grateful for her support and advocacy as a wife, a mother and grandmother, and great-grandmother. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Tuesday from 4 - 7. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Church in Lenox with the Rev. C.J. Waitekus, pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in St. Michael' Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Ann's Church in care of the funeral home.
