Priscilla P. "Parsons" Sargent

PITTSFIELD Priscilla P. "Parsons" Sargent, 85, passed away on May 18. The daughter of Raymond and Ethel Parsons, Priscilla was born and raised in Pittsfield. Priscilla graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1947 and was a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, 1951. She was a Sigma Kappa sister and a member of Phi Kappa Phi. She taught for many years in public schools in Pittsfield and East Hampton, Conn. She was employed at TJ Maxx in Pittsfield for 30 years, retiring at age 80. She will be remembered by many as "The TJ Maxx Lady." During her youth she was a Girl Scout, a member of South Congregational Church, where she sang in the choir, and was a member of the Girls Friendly Society. She was an avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles, and a cat lover. Priscilla cherished most the time she was able to spend at her summer cottage at Stockbridge Bowl. Priscilla is survived by her children, Mark P. Sargent of Orange, Mass., Pamela A. Hicks of Pittsfield, and Clearwater, Fla.; and her beloved granddaughter, Cheyenne P. Sargent of Orange, Mass. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 30, at 12 Noon at South Congregational Church, 110 South St., Pittsfield, Mass., with a gathering to follow in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to South Congregational Church Food Pantry, 110 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
