1925-2012 PITTSFIELD Raymond Jay Hitchcock of 82 Holmes Road, Pittsfield, passed away on August 9, 2012 at Hillcrest Commons after a short illness.

He was born in Pittsfield, on April 18, 1925, the son of Ralph and Mildred Hitchcock. Ray attended Pittsfield Schools. He served in the Navy from 1943-1946 as Gunnersmate 2nd class on USS LST 836. After returning from active duty Ray worked for General Electric Co. for 38 years before retiring in 1985.

Ray was a communicant of St. Stephens Church, volunteering for many years delivering food to the food pantry.

Ray is predeceased by his loving wife Anna Mae who passed away in January 2011. They had been married since October 18, 1952.

He is survived by his son, Mark Hitchcock and his wife, Kathleen Hitchcock of Portsmouth, R.I.; his daughter, Mary Teti and her companion, David Pickard of Pittsfield; four grandchildren: Christopher Hitchcock of Kansas City, Mo.; Jennifer Hitchcock of Woonsocket, RI; Nicholas Teti of Pittsfield; and Abigail Teti of Springfield, Mass.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Private services will be held for the immediate family. Ray's ashes will be interred at Pittsfield Cemetery.
