Raymond L. Strickland 1943-2011 OTIS Raymond L. Strickland, 68, of So. Main Road in Otis, died Thursday at his home. He was born in Gt. Barrington on February 21, 1943 the son of Louis E. and Ida E. Snow Strickland. He was educated in the Otis Schools and was a graduate of Lee High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After the service he worked for T.R.W. Manufacturing in Winsted Conn. and also for his long time friend Bruce Hawley of Otis as a trucker. He had worked for the Otis Highway Dept. for 15 years retiring as Highway Supertendent. For the past 10 years he worked at a private estate. He enjoyed motor cycling, camping and his grandchildren. Ray leaves his wife the former Wendy A. Bynack whom he married September 28, 2001, three sons Peter R. Strickland of Hopewell VA., Randy L. Strickland of Monterey, Scott R. Strickland of Ft. Collins, Col.; three step children Leigha Chaffee of Otis, James Bynack of Otis, and Melinda Soules of Monterey; three sisters Jodi E. Moretz of Otis, Linda S. English of Texas and Tammy A Strickland of Torrington, Conn.; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Funeral for Ray will be announced later next week. There will be no visiting hours.
