Richard "Red" Danaher

1929 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Richard "Red" Danaher, 84, of 22 Demond Ave., North Adams, died Monday, May 12, 2014, at Williamstown Commons in Williamstown. He was born in Williamstown, on Sept. 27, 1929, a son of the late John P. Danaher and Helene Muldowney Danaher. He attended schools in Williamstown. Mr. Danaher was first employed with McMahon Chevrolet in Williamstown, and Brewer Perkins in North Adams, for many years. He was last employed at Hunter Machine in North Adams. He was a past member of Gale Hose Co. in Williamstown and volunteered at the Spitzer Center. His wife, Lillian Danis Danaher, whom he married on June 10, 1961, died on Jan. 7, 1989. Survivors include a son, John P. Danaher of North Adams; a sister-in-law and his primary caregiver, Donna Danis; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by three brothers, his twin, Robert Danaher, Edward Danaher, and John P. Danaher, who was killed in action during WW II. FUNERAL NOTICE: At his request there are no formal services or calling hours. Burial will take place at a later date in the Southview Cemetery.
