Richard F. Daunais

1940 - 2014 ADAMS Mr. Richard Francis Daunais, 73, of 16 Simon Ave., Adams, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Adams on April 24, 1940, a son of Dorothy Shaw Daunais and the late Francis Daunais. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School. Mr. Daunais worked at the former General Electric Co. in Pittsfield as a tool maker, and retired from the former Lockheed-Martin Co., Pittsfield, on May 1, 1995. Dick was an avid deer and rabbit hunter as well as a brook fisherman, and New England sports fan. Besides his mother of Williamstown, he is survived by the love of his life of over 30 years, Nancy Zatorski Carlson, with whom he shared his home; one sister, Cathleen Daunais of Fairbanks, Alaska; three nieces, Hannah Monzingo of Fairbanks, Sadie Peters of Portsmouth, R.I., and Megan Milano of Providence, R.I. He will also be greatly missed by his great-nephew, Kaden Monzingo, who enjoyed wonderful summer fishing adventures with his Great-Uncle Dick, and by Rylen Monzingo, Logan and Violet Peters, and Isla Milano, who loved visiting their Great-Uncle Dick and his dogs. He also leaves his four legged companion, Rookie. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Daunais. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services and burial will be private for the family.
