Richard H. Delisle

1926 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Richard H. Delisle, 87, of 45 Spring Street, died on Jan. 23, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in North Adams on July 1, 1926, a son of Henry A. and Viola (Belleau) Delisle, he graduated from Drury High School in 1944. Richard was a decorated Army veteran of World War II, serving as a Tech Sgt. and received the Bronze Star. He was employed as an accountant all his life and was last employed as the office manager for Volkswagen Auto Sales in Northampton. Richard was a member of the North Adams American Legion Post #125 and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid softball player in North Adams. He also coached Little League and officiated high school basketball games. He was a former communicant of Notre Dame Church. He is survived by sons, Richard Delisle of Weston, Fla., and David Delisle of East Quoque, N.Y.; daughters, Cheryl Sanborn of Atlanta, Ga., and Jacqueline Zammitt of Marshfield; brothers, John "Jack" Delisle and Edward "Ted" Delisle of North Adams, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Delisle; by granddaughter, Sarah Sanborn and by three brothers, Robert, James "Champ" and Michael. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at St. Elizabeth Church on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. Graveside services with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at a later date.
