1937 - 2015 WILLIAMSTOWN Longtime Businessman and Civic Leader Richard Louis DeMayo 78 of Bonnie Lea Farm, 511 North St., died Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Williamstown on September 10, 1937 a son of the late Louis and Jessie (Maino) DeMayo. Dick graduated from Williamstown High School with the class of 1955. He was a veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis serving with the United States Air Force. He was owner and operator of DeMayo Electric Co. for many years and operated the Bonnie Lea Farm with his family. Dick was a active leader for the Town of Williamstown he served on Board of Selectman from 1987 to 1992, Planning Board 1997 to 2013, Conservation Commission 1981 to 1986, Master Plan Steering Committee 2000 to 2002, Economic Development Committee 1990 to 2000 and also served on the Housing Partnership, Real Property Reuse and Capital Improvement Committees. He served as trustee for the Williamstown Savings Band and was a loyal communicant of St's Patrick & Raphael Parish in Williamstown where he served on various committees through his life including being a Eucharistic Minister and usher. Survivors include his wife, Carol (Cobb) DeMayo whom he married in 1961. Three daughters, Andrea DeMayo Clancy and her husband, Bryan Clancy of Holliston, MA, Lisa DeMayo, and her husband, Jonathan Allbee, and Carin DeMayo-Wall, and her husband, John Wall, both of Williamstown. Five grandchildren, Benjamin, Greg and Sarah Clancy and Henry and Arden Wall. An AFS exchange daughter, Veronica Cardenas Gual and her family of Mexico. Two sisters, Mary Lou Galusha of Williamstown, Joan Maddock and her husband, Curt of Castle Rock, CO. Two brothers, Louis DeMayo and his wife, Pam of Dennis, MA, and James DeMayo and his wife, Esther of Trumbull, CT, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was also an honorary father and grandfather to so many people who loved him and that he loved. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be concelebrated on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11a.m. at the Williams College Thompson Memorial Chapel, Williamstown. Burial will take place at a later date in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling Hours will take place Sunday from 2 to 5p.m. at St's Patrick and Raphael Church, 63 Southworth St. Williamstown.
