Richard A. Heyer

1931-2013 HANCOCK Mr. Richard A. Heyer, 81, formerly of Hancock, Mass., passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, Mass. where he has resided for the past two years. He was born on March 23, 1931 the son of John and Janette Rice Heyer and attended schools in New York.

Mr. Heyer was a former Captain on the NYC Fire Department. Following his retirement he moved to Hancock where he worked as an artist. He owned and operated his own art gallery.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War.

Mr. Heyer leaves his wife, Mae Heyer of Pittsfield and a son Matthew Heyer of Williamstown.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services with full military honors will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department, care of the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201, in his memory.
