1928 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Richard W. Mosher, 84, of 22 Wood Avenue, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at his home.
Born in Pittsfield on March 25, 1928, the son of Willard F. and Maude E. Woods Mosher, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He served with the Navy Reserves.
Mr. Mosher was employed as a lineman for Western Massachusetts Electric Company and was Area Line Supervisor for 15 years, retiring in 1987 with 37 years of service. Prior to that, he had worked for General Electric Company and for Wooliver's Roofing.
Mr. Mosher had been a member of the Masons for more than 55 years. He was a 42-year member of the National Ski Patrol at Bousquet's.
He enjoyed motorcycles, was an avid Enduro rider, and was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He enjoyed hunting and target shooting and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He also enjoyed ballroom dancing and photography, as well as skiing, playing golf, and fly fishing.
Mr. Mosher's wife, the former Joan F. Marden, whom he married Aug. 9, 1952, died Dec. 23, 1997.
Mr. Mosher is survived by two daughters, Deborah J. McInerney of Pittsfield, and Denise J. Mosher-Bradford and her husband, Joseph, of Pittsfield; a son, Richard B. Mosher and his wife, Terry, of Shelburne Falls; seven grandchildren, Crystal Manning, Rachel Rose, Matthew McInerney, Aaron McInerney, Sam Bradford, Nicole Purinton, and Justin Purinton, and two great-grandchildren, Madison Manning and Mason Manning, as well as his fiancee, Janet Filpi, of Pittsfield.
He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Vincent.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Richard W. Mosher will be held Friday, March 15, at 12 noon at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with the Rev. Richard E. Hayes, Chaplain with HospiceCare in The Berkshires, officiating. Burial will be in the Spring in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dery Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Mosher may be made to Bousquet Ski Patrol in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
