Robert Lee Aldrich 1936 - 2012 LANESBOROUGH Robert Lee Aldrich, 75, formerly of 221 Summer St., died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center, Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 6, 1936, the son of Lawrence and Elaine Rimbold Aldrich, he was a 1954 graduate of Dalton High School and a graduate of Berkshire Community College and the American Legion College. A Korean War veteran, he served with the Navy and then with the Naval Reserves for a total of 12 years. Following military serve, he taught Driver's Education, and had worked as a mechanic at a gas station, and as a security guard. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Korean War Veterans, and was District 1 Historical Chairman of Naval Affairs. He was also a member of the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriff's Association, and the Lanesborough Taxpayers Association. He had also been active in the Boy Scouts and other organizations for children and youth. Mr. Aldrich leaves his wife, the former Henrietta Simeone, whom he married June 27, 1957. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert Aldrich, II., of Pittsfield; two daughters, Linda Lannon of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Wendy Wendell and her husband, Alfred, of Pittsfield; a sister, Carol Chapman of Dalton, nine grandchildren and 10 great -grandchildren. He was predeceased by his stepfather, John C. Pochinchuck. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Robert L. Aldrich will be held Saturday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at DERY FUNDERAL HOME with the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph Church, officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Lanesborough. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Aldrich may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
