Robert J. "Bear" Armstrong 1928-2012 Mr. Robert J. "Bear" Armstrong, 83, of 12 Imperial St., died Saturday March 10, 2012 at Mt. Greylock Extented Care Facility. Born in Pittsfield on July 20, 1928 the son of William J. and Margaret Speth Armstrong, he attended local schools. Mr. Armstrong worked as a Technician in the Transformer division of General Electric in Pittsfield. He was a member of Berkshire Hills Country Club and was a founding member of the Rainbow Club. He also enjoyed horse racing, gardening and was an avid baseball fan. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Mr. Armstrong was predeceased by his wife, the former Joan Dougherty, who died in 1994. He leaves a daughter, Karen Covel and her husband Peter of Pittsfield, two grandchildren, Robert A. Delphia Jr. and Travis M. Delphia; a nephew, James Armstrong and a great granddaughter Jillian Delphia. FUNERAL NOTICE: At Mr. Armstrong's request, a private Liturgy of Christian Burial was already held at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial followed in St. Joseph's Cemetery. If friends desire, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, in his memory.
