Robert W. Chandler

1925 - 2014 LENOX Robert W. Chandler, 89, of East Street, died Sunday morning at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield. Born in Concord, N.H., Feb. 25, 1925, the son of Arthur and Carrie Wilmont Chandler, he moved to Pittsfield with his family as a boy and attended local schools. Mr. Chandler was employed for over forty years at the former Sheaffer-Eaton Paper Co. in Pittsfield, where he was a machine operator. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working outdoors in his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. He also spent much of his time woodworking and especially enjoyed making houses for all the birds that frequented his yard over the years. His wife of many years, the former Ruth M. Conklin, died May 24, 2005. Mr. Chandler is survived by his four daughters, Sharon Chandler of Lenox, Dorothy Taraskiewicz and her husband, Robert, of Pittsfield, Marjorie Gandolfo of Canaan, Conn., and Nancy Chandler of Pittsfield; five sons, William Chandler and his wife, Donna, of Pittsfield, Richard, James, and David Chandler, all of Pittsfield, and Mark Chandler of Lenox; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his sister, Maybelle Chandler Koehler and his brother, Charles Chandler. FUNERAL NOTICE: A private funeral for Mr. Robert W. Chandler of Lenox, who died April 6, 2014, will be conducted Thursday at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. There are no public calling hours.
