Robert "Bob" Hausman

1933 - 2013

OTIS Robert James "Bob" Hausman, 79, of Otis, passed away Friday, February 1st at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield,MA.

Bob was born on August 31, 1933, in New Britain, CT, son of Walter F. and Margaret Daley Hausman. He grew up in New Britain, spending his summers in Madison, CT and later spent time at Lake Pacotapaug. He attended New Britain high school and graduated from Central Connecticut College.

After college, he was employed at the Aetna Insurance Company as Executive Senior Vice President specializing in group health insurance. Some of his well known accounts included Pepsi-Cola, Boeing and the Appalachian Coal Miners. Bob retired in the late '80s and moved permanently to Otis where he developed, planned and built several houses on Norton Road and Norton Road Extension.

Even though he was stricken early in childhood with Polio, Bob was an avid sports enthusiast. He played basketball in his youth, later coached softball, played golf and enjoyed snowmobiling. He followed horse racing and enjoyed recreational card games, particularly Cribbage. Bob had an excellent sense of humor and a wonderful gift for relating incidents and stories that he had experienced in his life. Bob was a true and loyal friend and will be missed by all.

Bob was predeceased by his older brother, Walter F. Hausman, II in 1997. He leaves a nephew, Walter F. Hausman, III, a sister-in-law, Maryann Hausman, both of New Britain, CT, and a special friend and caregiver, Katy Godwin of Otis, MA.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral service for Bob Hausman will be held on Friday, February 8th at 11am at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA with a visiting hour from 10am until the time of service. Burial will be private.
