Robert G. Hicks
1932 - 2013 BENNINGTON Robert G. Hicks, 80, formerly of Lee, Mass.,and a resident of Side by Side Assisted Living on Onota Street in Pittsfield, Mass., passed away Thursday evening, April 18, 2013.
Robert was born in Albany, N.Y., on Aug. 9, 1932, the son of George Edward and Hilda (Frost) Hicks of Branch Street. He attended Bennington schools and graduated from Bennington High School, class of 1950.
After receiving his Bachelor Degree from UVM he went to work for General Electric in Pittsfield, for over 30 years. He started there in Power Transformer, Plastics and then retired from their Naval Ordnance Division. He was a licensed engineer and surveyor and was a member of I.E.E.E.
Robert enjoyed reading and was a strong believer in higher education. He was a history buff and loved learning and reading about the Civil War.
Robert is survived by his sons Charles, John, George, Kenneth, Robert and David Hicks as well as numerous grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion (Oakes) Hicks, and by his son, Paul Hicks.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside funeral services for Robert will be Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, Vt. There are no visiting hours.
