Robert "Bob" Holmes 1943 - 2012 PITTSFIELD Robert Melvin "Bob" Holmes, 68, of 83 Norman Avenue, Pittsfield, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 26, 1943, in Boston, son of the late Robert Holmes and Emily Perry Holmes Barrett, he attended schools in Boston. He was last employed as head of housekeeping at Cranwell Resort in Lenox for four years and retired in May of 2011. He also had been employed at Haddad Motors as a lot attendant and had also worked in construction with Donovan Construction Co. and had helped build the dome on the Crowne Plaza and helped build Columbia Arms. He was a Boston Red Sox Fan, a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He enjoyed fishing, working around his home, family picnics and mostly enjoyed being at Dunkin Donuts on Dalton Avenue every morning having coffee with his friends. He leaves his wife, the former Molly M. Litano, whom he married July 13, 1963; three sons, Robert A. Holmes, David M. Holmes and Tony B. Holmes all of Pittsfield; two daughters, Eleanor Kenney and her husband, John, and Shirley McIntosh and her husband, James, all of Pittsfield; a brother, John Barrett and his wife, Karen, of Dorchester; three sisters, Barbara Glew of Marshfield, Shirley Holmes of Somerville, and Frances May and her husband, Robert, of Brockton; seven granddaughters, Sonya, Sarah, Sabrina, Samantha, Kimberly, Kayla and Keri; five great-grandchildren, Anthony, Abrianna, Jazmin, Jaiden and Kamryn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, John Bannister. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Robert M. Holmes will be Tuesday, Feb. 7th from 4 to 7 P.M. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
