Robert McCagg Obituary
Robert C. McCagg

PENSACOLA, FLA. Robert C. McCagg, 77, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015. Born in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. When I was very young, my family moved several times as my dad worked for the state, finally settling in the small Western Massachusetts village of Housatonic. I attended grammar school there and graduated from Searles High School in Great Barrington, about five miles away. Had a small dance band, where we played dates in Mass., Conn., and N.Y. After high school, went to and graduated from the TV Workshop of New York in New York City, where I majored in television production. I joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958, married and had a child, Mark. After my stint in the service, joined Household Finance Corporation and Michele, my second child, was born. Promoted to manager, managed offices in Midland and Odessa, Texas, and Panama City, Fla. A move followed to Pensacola and a divorce. I joined the Frisco Railroad, married Wanda, the love of my life, and her four great children, Jack (who we lost to cancer in 2007), Billy (lost in 2011), Lisa and Joel. Retired from the BNSF RR in 2000, (after the merger with the Frisco) in Ft. Worth, Texas after being transferred there in 1993 and moved back to Pensacola. I was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Bellview, having been a VP of the Holy Name Society, Lector, and a booth chairman of St. Anne's Round-Up. Belonged to the Warrington Elks, where I edited the newsletter. Hobbies were music, reading, and acting as sous chef to my wonderful cook wife. It has been a wonderful journey and I thank God for the Gift of Life. He is survived by 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE: Visitation will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church, Tuesday, April 21, from 9:30 a.m. until service begins at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Fr. George Sammut will be celebrant. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Pkwy, is entrusted with arrangements.
