Robert Arthur "Yogi" Sherman

1942 - 2014 CLARKSBURG Mr. Robert Arthur "Yogi" Sherman, 72 of 199 Middle Rd. died Wednesday Dec. 17, at Williamstown Commons. He was born in Clarksburg, on Mar. 27, 1942, son of Earl D. and Mildred (Shortman) Sherman. He attended Clarksburg schools and graduated from the Drury High School with the class of 1959. Yogi, as he was fondly called by co-workers, worked in the concrete business for his entire life starting with Maxymillian Construction. He then joined the Berkshire Concrete Corp where he worked for many years. An accomplished concrete technician, he was always willing to offer his expertise with the most complicated projects. He was last employed by Della Concrete Co. where he was instrumental in assisting with the startup of the business, until his retirement in 2004. Bob was an avid golfer and longtime member at Stamford Valley Golf Course where he was a proud member of the "Hole in One Club" and currently holds the course record. He and his wife enjoyed travel and spending time with their family. Bob loved to work in his yard, as well as helping his children with projects around their homes. He loved watching his beloved sports teams, the NY Yankees, NY Giants and Boston Celtics. Survivors include his wife, the former Jeanette Rose Masson, whom he married on Mar. 25, 1961; one daughter, Deborah A. LaPine and her husband, Mark, of Clarksburg; two sons, David A. Sherman and his wife, Renee, of Clarksburg, and Stephen G. Sherman and his wife, Kristy, of North Adams. He also leaves five grandchildren including David Sherman and his wife, Kelsey, Scott Sherman, Michelle LaPine, Paige Sherman, and Benjamin Thomas; one great-granddaughter, Ava Dale; one brother, William Sherman of Clarksburg; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers including Earl Sherman and Forrest Sherman. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Saturday Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams. Burial will be in the spring in Clarksburg Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Liver Foundation in care of the funeral home.
