Robert R. Wells Sr.
1936 - 2013 WASHINGTON Robert R. Wells, Sr., 77, of 465 Frost Road, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Hartford, Conn., on June 28, 1936, a son of Kenneth J. and Thelma P. Leonard Wells, he was educated in Pittsfield schools. A machinist by trade, Mr. Wells had worked for May Engineering and Clarke-Aiken. In 1965, Mr. Wells opened his own machine shop, Washington Mountain Machine, which he operated with his family before retiring in 2006. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and enjoyed fishing. In his youth, he was active in the Pittsfield Speed Skating Club. Mr. Wells leaves his wife, the former JoAnn J. Jacob, whom he married March 2, 1957, at St. Charles Church in Pittsfield. He is also survived by a son, Robert R. Wells, Jr., and his wife, Kathy, of Washington; two daughters, Lori A. Belknap and her husband, Brian, of Pittsfield, and Shana L. Gendreau of Westfield; a brother, Larry Wells and his wife, Gloria, of Washington; a sister, Patty Burke, and her husband, Eddy, of Ocala, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Tommy Belknap, Allie Belknap, Kelly Belknap, Marc Gendreau, Megan Gendreau, Amie Knox, and Samantha Valentine; and four great grandchildren, Kyle, Cody, Nathan, and Emily. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth J. Wells, Jr. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Robert R. Wells, Sr. will be Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with Pastor Sigmund Sadzinski officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in Williamstown. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Renal Dialysis (Berkshire Medical Center) in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
