Robert White Obituary
Robert J. White, Jr.

1956-2014 Robert "Bobby" James White Jr., 57, of West Kill New York, and originally of Lanesborough, Mass., died at his home Wednesday, February 26th, from natural causes. He was born May 4, 1956, son of the late Robert J. White Sr. and Marie A. Allen White. He attended Lanesborough Elementary School and Mount Greylock Regional High School. Robert, a union carpenter and metal lather since the age of 16, was employed by numerous outfits both locally and nationally, including Wahconah Drywall of MA and Davis Acoustical of NY. He was a highly skilled drywaller, metal framer and acoustical ceiling mechanic, having worked on such iconic structures as the Luxor pyramid casino in Las Vegas, the Denver Airport and locally, Williamstown Elementary School and Williams College. He also worked carpentry together with his father and mentor, and his son Douglas. Family and friends fondly knew him as "Bobby," "Zoo Ray," or "Whitey." Bobby enjoyed traveling the open road, especially throughout the West Coast where he lived and traveled extensively. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who rode motocross as a young man and he continued to own and ride a Harley Davidson until his passing. He was a rebellious, charismatic, thrill seeking daredevil who always spoke his mind. He enjoyed football, scuba diving, and creative artwork such as pottery and wood working. Most of all, he enjoyed being amongst nature. He studied Latin, as well as the teachings of Sun Tzu, Nostradamus, and various Native American cultures. Bob was well known for his rapier wit and unique comedic nature. He was a friend to animals in general and gave back to them, specifically through his many Pit Bull rescues. Bobby had recently enjoyed raising his beloved and rambunctious Bull Terrier, "Doc Holliday." He was a patriotic man and a proud United States Marine. Bob White was a friend to many and most of all enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his son Douglas J. White and daughter-in-law Heather White of Phoenix, AZ, his daughter Jennifer White Marlowe and son-in-law John Marlowe, of North Adams; and his grandchildren Hayley Shook and Jack Marlowe of North Adams. He also leaves his sister Marie "Reanne" White Mathews, his dear friend and brother-in-law James Mathews, a niece Jamie Mathews, and nephew Ryan Lundergan. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Marie White. Much gratitude to his friend and land lady Sharon D'addario and family, his "Step Mom"Jackie Cappizola and his many supportive brothers, friends and staff at the Castle Point Veterans Administration Hospital in New York.
